dismashouse@n-sites.com(931)520-8448 Welcome to our Dismas HouseDismas House is an effective, innovative program that helps break the cycle of criminal life. Each Dismas House is a supportive community shared by carefully screened former offenders, college students, and local volunteers. At Dismas House, former offenders typically stay for four to six months and leave with a stable income, sense of self-worth and hope for a sober and productive future. Residents pay program fees to partially offset the cost of their stay and to help them on their path to self-sufficiency. Dismas' 75% success rate illustrates that our program is a unique form of crime prevention. Upper Cumberland Dismas has also piloted a job-readiness program inside the Putnam County jail called Passages, where community volunteers teach interviewing and job-readiness skills to inmates and expose them to new trades. Having a Dismas House as a next door neighbor is no different from any other neighbor one may have. I've found that they are generally more caring, cooperative and giving than most people one might have as neighbors." -- Nashville House Neighbor |
